About Us

     Tweens N’ Things is owned and run by Ms. Sophonia Simmons Hardaway.  Ms. Sophonia Simmons Hardaway graduated from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 1991 in the field Computer Science.  She received her graduate degree from Loyola College in the field of Computer Engineering in 1999.  After graduating from undergrad, Ms. Hardaway began mentoring teens in her spare time. While performing her community service, she developed a keen sensitivity to young ladies between the ages of eight and fourteen, and began to notice their apparent lack of life skills.

     Ms Hardaway struggled with communicating with her parents as she was growing up. She has used this childhood experience to study what is needed today from our tweens, teens and parents in order to form happy and healthy relationships. Her desire to be an involved parent and mentor grew into a passion when her daughter Zoë was born. As her communication skills strengthened with her daughter, so did her desire to pursue her vision to get parents and child discussing pertinent life issues, their struggles with peer pressure, and other misunderstandings that are constantly plaguing our youth.

     To fill this void, Ms Hardaway set out and created Tweens N’ Things, LLC. She is inspired to create an atmosphere for communication and teaching of life skills for parents and tweens. Her workshops/classes are designed to get parents, tweens and teen interested in basic communication in the area of self respect, etiquette and social skills that promotes trust, respect and the “know how”.

     Currently, Ms Hardaway offers computer classes for both children ages 3 –7 and adults. She also offers sewing classes set in a social environment and she plans to open classes for teens on budgeting, professional and writing etiquette in Spring 2008. She also has created “Mom and Me Spa Parties” and various other activities which require parent participation.
